Refugees and Participatory Capacity

The event aims to lay the foundation for the dialogue and discussion that are expected to happen throughout the art exhibition between artists and visitors. The focus is on the participatory capacity of asylum seekers and refugees in the everyday life of society and the places where they are living. This includes participation in the discussion and decisions made by relevant authorities throughout their displacement journey.

Moderator will guide speakers to discuss several points, including but not limited to:

  1. Who asylum seekers and refugees are, particularly in the Indonesian context
  2. What participatory capacity is and how it is related to meaningful participation
  3. Why participation in the host society is important for both ASRs and the host society and the scenario if we fail in ensuring participation
  4. How to increase participatory capacity and achieve meaningful participation of ASR in the host society
  5. Lessons learned or best practice of meaningful participation of ASR in host society
