Biography

Ali Reza Yawari is a refugee from Afghanistan and based in Makassar, Indonesia. He is a founder of AIM Refugee-led Learning Center in Kupang and young documentary as well as filmmaker who make films about migration, human trafficking, and refugee issues. He also has a keen interest in Computer and Communication in which he studied courses and participated in several pieces of training and workshops. 

Ali started volunteering with RDI UREF in the Creative Placemaking Project in 2019 in Makassar. He was responsible for producing video documentaries of the project. After finishing the project, he joined RDI UREF internship in October 2020 and has been contributing significantly to several projects. He was involved Memoar story collection from Indonesian locals and refugees and its production into podcast episodes. He is now involved in two projects which are Refugee Mentorship Program and a project funded by Royal Academy of Engineering called Voicing Urban Asylum Seeker and Refugee Stories through Artistic Expression.Â
